ABOUT THE ROLE

Amsted Automotive Group, Powder Metal, Beaver Dam, WI is looking for a 2nd Shift or 3rd shift Journeyman Tool & Die Maker to manufacture or repair any tooling needs that the plant has using Lathes, Mills, Grinders, and other precision equipment. This individual must understand how they impact product quality and how they affect both internal and external customers. We offer a competitive wage based on experience plus a 5% shift premium, $2500 relocation bonus.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

Primary Function Summary

• Read and follow written work instructions as provided.
• Read and interpret complicated tool drawings.
• Fabricate and/or repair tools, fixtures and machine parts
• Manufacture quality products to meet customer requirements
• Do complicated set ups and operations on machine tools such as lathes, standard and CNC mills and EDM’s, grinders, hones, saws, CAD/CAM.
• Maintain a continuous material flow throughout the Tool & Die Process
• Design and fabricate simple or complex jigs and fixtures.
• Make decisions using math, charts, tables, formulas, and knowledge of machining techniques and methods.
• Other duties assigned or required for the department.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

• Responsible for maintaining a “Safety First” mentality while working. Must keep work area neat and orderly at all times
• Ability to proficiently use precise measuring equipment and gauges and work to extremely close tolerances.
• Ability to work with little direct supervision
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and capable of moving up to 80 lbs. with or without accommodation.

Experience

Preferred

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• Knowledge of Surfcam, Esprit, or SolidWorks
• Successful completion of a tool and die apprenticeship and 10,400 hours of relative work experience
• 3 - 5 years: Post apprenticeship tool and die experience
